About Me

Steven began his journey in the financial sector at Coutts Bank, gradually expanding his expertise through roles at Allied Irish Bank and Rabobank, before transitioning to Bank of Ireland First Currency Services. It was at Bank of Ireland where Steven's career pivoted towards risk and compliance, supported by his pursuit of an International Compliance Diploma in Risk, AML, and Compliance. Advancing to the Deputy MLRO position, Steven took charge of managing risk, compliance, and AML for Bank of Ireland's banknote division, fostering key relationships with regulatory bodies like the Bank of England, European Central Bank, and the Federal Reserve Bank.

Steven delved into the Gambling Industry, assuming the role of Group MLRO for the Betway Group. Overseeing compliance efforts across multiple jurisdictions including the UK, Malta, Spain, Italy, Denmark, and Sweden, he spearheaded the enhancement of Betway's Financial Crime department through technological innovations and process refinements.

Steven's journey continued with William Hill PLC, where he served as the Group MLRO for five productive years. Managing not only the Group MLRO position but also various local MLRO roles across Europe, Steven played a pivotal role in the integration of MR Green and the transition to and from Caesars Entertainment, culminating in William Hill's acquisition by the 888 Group. Holding a personal management license with the UK Gambling Commission and contributing to the executive risk committee, he took on ultimate responsibility for AML and Financial Crime group-wide. Under his stewardship, William Hill saw advancements in sanction and PEP screening, automated risk scoring, and the development of a robust AML risk framework.
